1950's Brief
When starting this brief we were told we could explore what we wanted to so I chose 1950's. I'm very interested in photography and rather taking my own photographs for reference for my prints. This led to the discovery that I'm very interested in creating props and sets for my own photo shoots. I chose the 1950's genre as I love the black and white photography and I felt that this period really captured the beauty and glamour of this stark photography.
Breakfast At Tiffany's
In these photographs the sets were quite plain as I had yet to discover how to lay out the photographs in a manner that is most appealing to the eye. I used myself in the representation of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany's.
Billie Holiday
When looking at the 1950's genre I didn't want to limit myself to movies alone so I delved into the soulful music of the time in the form of Billie Holiday. I used Collins' Bar and Lounge as the set for these photographs. It became evident that the country element has influenced my sets and the way in which I take my photographs, as I live in the heart of the country. This can be seen in parts of my photos, such as the Guinness signs.
Wizard of Oz
I wanted to experiment with the way I portrayed a representation. For instance, in this I made the lion, tin-man and scarecrow so my model could find them on her journey through the countryside. Thus making the connection between child and toy and giving a sense of adventure all the while bringing through the nature/country essence.
Alice in Wonderland
In these photographs I was more adventurous with colour and props. I also experimented with using more than one model. I wanted to see how well they all worked together within a photograph.
